To register: Why Questions Are More Important Than Answers (April 5th Lunch Session)

Program Summary:

A good question leads to transformation and possibility while pursuit of the “right” answer leads to desperation, competition, mistrust, and emotional reaction. Yet most of us were taught to find that one right answer, and if we weren’t able to find it, not only was the answer wrong, but we were wrong. Consequently, we’ve become a society of rule-followers who condemn anyone who goes against what’s “normal.”

When we tell our children and our employees to follow the rules, conform, and obey, we are perpetuating the belief that creativity and innovation is for someone else – someone who has permission to think differently.

In this talk I will address the stories we make up in our heads as kids, and then spend our adult lives working to justify, while shedding some light on the validity of those stories.

By allowing ourselves as leaders some space to think, to discover, to create, and even to make mistakes, we will find that we have more opportunity to connect with our colleagues, our co-workers, our employees, and even our families in a much more authentic way, thus allowing them to do the same thing.
