Biography:
Nate Aalgaard has been the Executive Director of Freedom Resource Center for Independent Living for 17 years. Freedom is a disability rights organization with a catchment area covering 19 counties in western Minnesota and southeastern North Dakota. Its main office is in Fargo, with branch offices in Detroit Lakes, Fergus Falls, Jamestown, and Wahpeton. Nate has served on numerous disability advocacy organizations, and has provided consulting and training on the Americans with Disabilities Act to entities such as the City of Fargo, Minnesota Rural Development, and various nonprofit organizations.
Program
From his perspective as a person with a disability, and also an employer; Nate will provide information and examples of employment barriers for people with disabilities, and solutions to overcome those barriers, including reasonable accommodations. He will also talk about basic accessibility features that businesses can look to improve, to enhance their attractiveness to all customers and potential employees.
This session is pending approval for 1.0 General re-certification credit hours toward PHR/SPHR re-certification through the HR Certification Institute.
