Program Summary:

Can your organization afford to lose your reservoir of talented, experienced older workers in the coming years? If not, have you done serious strategic workforce planning to analyze the impact of baby boomer retirements and to identify potential skills gaps that could result? This session will look at key older worker strategies that should be integrated into an overall talent management program for today’s multi-generational workforce. It will also look at lessons to be learned from recent research -- including the 2012 SHRM-AARP Strategic Workforce Planning Poll –and from best practices by organizations honored with AARP’s 2011 Best Employers for Workers over 50 Award.

Speaker Biography:

Robert Garcia is the Director of Global Business Development for the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and is responsible for establishing and growing business relationships with global clients. Bilingual in English and Spanish, he brings a wealth of experience in the fields of human resource management, training and development, sales and marketing, leadership consulting, health care administration, operations, and diversity, and is a frequent guest speaker regarding these topics.

Robert has been a SHRM member and volunteer leader for over 12 years, just recently serving as President of the Greater Miami Society for Human Resource Management.  Robert obtained a Master of Business Administration from Florida International University and is a distinguished graduate of Nova Southeastern University with a Bachelor of Science in Business and Management.  He is certified through the Human Resource Certification Institute as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and a Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR).  

Re-certification Credit:

 

This session has been approved for 1.0 General credit hours toward PHR/SPHR re-certification through the HR Certification Institute.
